Paignton Picture House
In 1999, the Paignton Picture House closed its doors, leaving a historic and architecturally significant grade II* listed building vacant and without a defined role in the community of Paignton. Recognised for its historical value, it was added to Historic England’s Heritage at Risk Register, listed as one of the top 10 priority sites in the southwest.
Fast forward to 2013, a group of committed locals, passionate about preserving historic structures and understanding their potential for revitalisation, established a Buildings Preservation Trust. This marked the beginning of the current chapter. The Trust's vision is clear: to transform the Paignton Picture House into a vibrant community and cultural centre for Torbay, a space dedicated to entertainment, enjoyment, and education.
