Maker Heights

We have developed a comprehensive visual identity and online presence for the remarkable Maker Heights, located on the stunning Rame Peninsula in South East Cornwall. Since the 1990s, Maker has flourished as a creative hub, home to artists, musicians, and artisans, alongside a picturesque campsite. Today, its creative energy is centred in the Barrack Block, offering 22 affordable studios, a vibrant music venue, and gallery, while The Nissen Huts house The Canteen, campsite reception, and various artisan businesses.

Our mission was to craft a unified identity for the diverse businesses and areas of Maker, allowing them to coexist as a vibrant community while preserving their individual identities. We also developed sub-identities within this new visual framework for The Rame Conservation Trust (the site's landlords and custodians) and the various events held at Maker.

The Maker 'M' marque is inspired by the Barrack Block's architectural plans, grounding it deeply in the site's heritage. Cleverly designed, it also forms the top of an 'H' through negative space, creating a subtle 'MH' monogram for Maker Heights. This 'MH' monogram is also prominently featured in the branding for Heritage Open Days.

With our business partners Altitude, we developed a dynamic, content-rich website centred on the core values of Maker, its vibrant community, and the site's rich heritage. We showcased the stunning beauty, vibrant community, and historical significance of Maker Heights through the exceptional photography of Dom Moore, a long-time collaborator and one of Maker’s tenants.
